Needs Assessment & Evaluation Community Readiness Assessment Model The Community Readiness Assessment Model is currently being used by grantees within OVC's Children's Justice Act Partnerships for Indian Communities Grant Program. The model helps organizations assess current procedures and resources for reporting and responding to child abuse cases, and assesses the level of readiness of a community to develop and implement procedures to improve service delivery. Office for Victims of Crime within the U.S. Department of Justice/Office of Justice Programs (OVC) VOCA Victim Assistance Formula Grants: Grants to States, which in turn provide sub-grants to victim service organizations providing direct service to crime victims. Tribal Victim Assistance (TVA) Discretionary Grants: Grants support the planning and implementation of programs to improve the ability of American Indian and Alaska Native Communities to provide direct services to crime victims.

Children's Justice Act Partnerships for Indian Communities (CJA): This grant program supports projects to improve the capacity of existing tribal systems to handle the investigation, prosecution, and overall handling of severe child abuse cases, particularly cases of child sexual abuse.

Counseling for Crime Victims in Indian Country by Faith-Based Organizations Discretionary Grant Program:
This project supports the provision of faith-based counseling services to victims of crime and supports the creation of collaborative models for local victim assistance programs to join with faith-based organizations, spiritual leaders, and traditional healers in tribal communities.

Helping Outreach Programs Expand (HOPE) Grant Program: This grant program provides $5,000 in funding to grassroots community based and faith-based victim service organizations and coalitions to improve outreach and services to crime victims. Provides funding to programs which are not VOCA funded.

National Crime Victims Rights Week Community Awareness Project Funding: This program provides support to victim service coalitions to conduct outreach and public education events during National Crime Victims' Rights Week (April).

OVC Discretionary Grants: American Indian/Alaska Native programs are eligible to apply for many of the grants for demonstration projects or training and technical assistance projects which improve services to crime victims, help victims participate in the criminal justice system, and increase public awareness of victim issues.
